SAVE NERIS

Protecting the Viliya–Neris through knowledge, science and democratic participation.

Understanding a changing river. Protecting a shared European future.

Save Neris is an independent European research and public-interest initiative dedicated to studying, documenting and safeguarding the Viliya–Neris River — one of Europe's last largely free-flowing transboundary rivers. We believe that protecting a river begins with understanding how it is changing, why those changes occur, and what they reveal about the wider relationship between nature, society and public decision-making in contemporary Europe.

WHO WE ARE

A European knowledge hub and observatory for a shared living river.

Protecting the Viliya–Neris through knowledge, science and democratic participation.

Every significant public initiative begins with the recognition that existing ways of understanding a problem have become insufficient.

PROGRAMS

An integrated European platform for understanding, governing and protecting shared river systems.

Protecting rivers cannot be achieved through science alone, nor through environmental law alone, nor through public participation alone.
